While our automated verification (Sumsub) is very good at detecting forged and edited documents, it is not perfect. Here are some examples of fake documents to consider when reviewing client applications.

Example #1

  • Payment is due by 8th September but the bill date is from Jan to Feb.
  • Statement mentions 'summer gas bill' but the location (UK) should be Winter/Spring this the stated billing period.

  • Similar to the previous one, the 'SUPPLY ADDRESS PLACE HERE' indicate this is a template.

Example #2

  • Statement from 2023 to 2022 is not legally possible.

Example #3

  • The last/surname is of a different (shade of black) font colour to the rest of the document.

  • The address appear to have a different font/colour.

Example #4

  • Photo shows the same person but personal details are different - Name and DOB.

Example #5

  • The scanned image displays some irregularities, specifically, the four corners aren't perfectly straight as they should be. It gives an impression that the bill has been manipulated or distorted, as if it has been 'stretched' out of proportion.

Example #6

  • Upon examining the photo and the text font closely, there is a peculiar aspect to them. A subtle 'grey' shadow lurks behind the text, suggesting that the original content might have been overwritten. This anomaly hints at a possible alteration in the original text.

Example #7

  • Font color discrepancy.
  • Facial image was not imprinted on the ID but was cropped and placed into the ID
