Many nations have implemented, are implementing, or have proposed nationwide digital identity systems. While many facets of digital ID are universal, some variations exists due to specific laws, practices and government services that are in place.


While Sumsub is generally very good at ID verification, the results is not always reliable due to how new/complexed some of these digital IDs are.


Below are some tips and things to look out for when verifying a digital ID manually:

  1. Check the source: Ensure that the digital ID is issued by a legitimate authority or organization. This might be a government or other trusted entity.
  2. Cross-verify information: Digital ID usually contain personal information, you might be able to cross-verify this with their application detail or any other documents submitted for verification.
  3. Check security element: Most digital ID would have one or a combination of either: QR code, signature, or the person's photo. Caution: DO NOT try to scan the QR code with your mobile/work devices as it is one of the method hackers use to gain access to your device.
